Domestic News. ‘Tae Ausany Stave Case —Much excitement has prevailed in Albany for some days past in relation to the claim of a female slave by her owner, which we have heretofore mentioned. The following, which we copy from an Albany paper, of Saturday, gives the result :— E There was another hearing of this case, before Jndge Hilron, last evening. The Mayor’s court io whieh the hearing was had, was crowded excited audience. At a late hour the court djvuracd, Jadze Hilton announciog that he would give bis decison at 9o’clock this morning. The woman wasthen remanded to jail, which was 2s closely watched as oa the previous might. This mora nga large crowd had collected around the jail awaiting the decision. It at length arrived, direct- jog the Shenff to inform the slave that she was at li- beriy (> retura to her master or remain at the north —in fact, that she was free. She chose not to re- retura, and lett the jail, escorted by a host of citi- z-ns, Who cheered her and ker escort most enthusi- astically. We understand that the ground upe which the Judse came to his decision was, that as her master had brought her to this State, she could not be considered under the Covstitution as a fugi- tive from another State, and that in consequence uoder our owa State law she was tree. Had she es- caped from anotner State and been arrested in this, a contrary decision would have been the reeult.— This decision aud the grounds upoa which it is bas- ed, are unquestionably correct. If southern gentle- men bring their elaves to New York, they must do soattheir ownrisk. By cur laws they are free as goon asthey reach New York soil “So will our courts, juries, and last, though not least, our people uniformly decide There ws one mysterious circumstance connected with this case, which we should be pleased to have explained We are at_a loss to discover by what color of law Judge Hilton intertered at all in this ness, and upon what authority hiswrits and acts were based | As yet we are in profound ignorance upon that point, nor has any legal gentleman with whom we have conversed, been able to enlighten us. The uext is Tre Time « Goxornna: REMAINED UNCURED.— It is difficult to say how lon, wea or Gleet may run and not produce a stryctare. for one is naturally more dieposed to strictore than another ; but, asa general rule, if it should be suffe-sd to goon beyond 'six weeks, this alone would afford jicient ground at least, for the suspicion of a stricture. - ‘The un Eerret a STRICTURE HAS UPON THE MIND.—The effect of Stricture is to depress the spirits and to lessen both bodily and mental activity. This also is one of the most com- mou effects. Not, however, that it is. seen alike in every indi- vidual, but it is common that the writer rarely sees a case of stricture (0 day) in which the patient does not corap! that he is not so capable of ba- Suess as formerly. It is gratifying also to witdess the uniform retum of spirits, and the disappeartug of other maladies as the Cure progresses.
