All kinds of vegetables are extra- bundant, except tomatoes. But notwithstanding the general plontifulness, peaches and potatoes are very high. We thought that when the North River peaches came into market, prices would but instead of that, they have gone up a peg or two, and are extravagantly dear. There never was a better yield, and if speculators had net touched them, prices would now be at least one hundred per cent lower. It is the same with potatoes. ‘There existsa monopoly in that article. Specvlators have bought up all they could lay their hands on, and hence price are up. Weadvise the consumers to be cautious of whom they bu: Complaints are daily made of the condition of the Washington Market. It is now a disgrace to the city.
