(W bich Sam is equal to 6,250 Dallars.) On the 19:h Inft. His M:jelty’s Ship Scarborcugh, Captain Stoct, arrived at New-York from South- Carolina. We learn, by a Velel from Gibraltar, whichar- rived at Salem, That one of His MsjeRy’s Sloops of 16 Guns and 75 Men, had taken a fine new French Ship of 2z Guns and 170 Men, fizted for a Privateer, but wasladen with Stores, bound from Marleilles for Martineco, and fent her into Gibraltar. Captains Evers, Willfon and Watt left Port/fmouth about 34 Days ago, in Company with the Virginia and Quebec Fleets, the former confilting of 5o Sail, under Convoy of a 60 Gun Suip, the latter cf 17 Sail with Stores for Quebec, were under Convoy of the Devonthire and Kingfton Men of War of 64 Guns each : Capt. Evers, " who kept Company with the Quebcc Fleet, informs, that they met with very hard Gales of Wind when about 270 Leagues to the Weft- ward of Scilly, whercby 3 or 4 Storefhips received fome Damage, by lofin} their Mafts, Yards, &c. And the Men of War being obliged to lay to, Capt. A French Privateer got among the Weft India Fleet oft Torbay, and took four Vefl:ls, one bound to Montferrat, a Snow bound to' Gaudaloupe, and a Brig, where bound unknown:. We bear from Albany, that about ten Days ago two of the Regulars were taken Prifoners and carried off by the Enemy. Laf Friday Night Capt. 4tkins arrived bere in eight Days from Newfoundland, and informs, that one of bis Majefly's Sloops of War with a Fleet of about 50 Sail of Merchantmen, were arrived there in 22 Days from Plymouth. From she New-York GAZETTE, of May 26. Friday the 16th Inftant, May, in the Afternoon, the Race Horfe Bomb, Capt. M‘Cartney, arrived at Bofton from Quebec, with Difpatches for General Ambherft.
