The Sloop Good Intent, Captain Shewbart, of this Port, bound to Providence, in Lat. 33 overfet, when the Mate and Supercargo were drowned ; the Czptain and two Men remained on the Wreck fix Dazys, and were providentially taken up by a Veflel from Lifbon bound to Maryland, being fo far fpent 85 to be urable to help themfelves. It was in its perihelion, about the 1oth of March,and then about Forty-{even Millions of Miles from the fun, On the 26th of April it paft by the fouth End of the Earth, at the diftance of about 6 Millicn Miles, and was invifible to the Inhabitants of the Northern Climates for about a Week. A few Days before a yound Lad from Newbury underwent the like Ope- ration, and is now fo far recovered as to be able to return home, We have a Report in Town, faid to be brought by a Veflel from Philadelphia, that our Forces in the Weft Indies had entirely fubdued the Ifland of Gua- daloupe, after the Lofs of a great Number of Men on both fides, and that the French were made Prifoners of War : We can't yet learn any particuiars, but if the above Report be true, our Readers may expett a more perfeét Account in our next. We learn from Jamaica, that Adm. Coates with three Men of War were fhortly to fail for Monta Chrifto, in order to put a ftop to the illicit T'rade carried on there from North America. We bave the Pleafure to acguaint the Publick, that the 5000 Men woted by this Province, for the Service of His Majefly in the prefent Expedition, are not only railed and the greateff Part of them march'd to the Places avbere they are deflined ; but that the 1500 voted as an Addition about three Weeks pafl, are now almofl compleat, being raifed abolly by Inliiment, at aBounty of £.10 10s. The Tran(ports having on board the Detackments of the T'rain of Artillery which winter’d in this Town as alfo the Mortars, Cannon, and ftores belonging to the Train, have fell down to Nantatket, in order to proceed, under Convoy of his Majefty’s fhip Hind, to join the Fieet under Admiral Saunders. The provincial Troops beund for Louifbourg are all embark’d, and are to fail the fi:ft fair Wind. PO RIS NGOV L H Laft Wednefday Morning Captain Willis arrived here in 7 Days from Halifax, who brings the agreeable News of Admiral Durrell’s being fail’d with nine Capital Ships of War, to cruize at the Entrance of the River St. Lawrence. We have Advice from the Ifland of Nevis, that Capt. Wiiliam Clarke, Commarder of the Letter of Marque Ship King of Pruffia, of 6 Carriage and five fwivel Guns, who fail'd from :his place in Januvary laft, met with on his paffage to faid Ifland, about 40 Leagues from thence, a Frerch privateer of 8 Car- riage Guns, befides Swivels ; and after a {mart En- gagement of five Glaffes, Monfieur thought proper to fheer off ; and being fatisfied with the Reception he met with, made the beft of his Way from them, without returning to take a fecond part of the fame Tune. The King cof Pruflia received no Damage in ber Hull, and very little in her Rigging or Sails, In a Letter from Lifbon, dated Jan. 19, it is faid, that a Number more of the Confpirators concerned in the late Attempt upon his Portuguefe Majefty, were to fhare the fameFate of thofe already executed, in a few Days.
