Tt is certain true, that a Number of the Inhabitants (I was told 34) were killed and carried off lately from Cedar and Stony Creeks ; and that fome of the Murders were commit- ted within 13 Miles of Lord Fairfax’s Houfe. Ina Letter from Carlifle, dated the z7th ult. it is faid, that at M’Cluare’s Gap, about 7 Miles from that Place, the Wife of one Samuel Wiifon was killed the Saturday before by the Indians. And in another Letter from Harris’s Ferry,wrote the z7th of September, there is Advice, that one Johnfon, a Farmer in Paxton,was killed or carried off by the’Enemy on the 19th of that Month, he not being heard of fince. We learn from Fort Littleton, that two of our Soldiers, who were taken laft Year in Fort Granville, bad come in there, having made their Efcape from Fort Duquefne, and inform, that the Garrifon of that Place did not exceed z00 Men ; and that a Party of Indians had fet out a few Days before they left it, to annoy Virginia and Maryland. We hear from Lebanon; in Lancafter County, that laft Friday four Children were carried off by the Indians.
