: % L ONDO N : g, tral of a Letter from Wexford, April 27. : *Laft monday a very extraordinary affair happened here ; the, women of this town, to the - number of 5 or 600, aflembled (at the beat of aboran or corn fan) in 2 wvery riotous manner, armed with broomfticks, ladels, cab- -bage-ftalks, and fuch like, and with amazonian fiercenefs in their looks, threatned deftruétion and devaftation to all the foreftallers ; affaulted and pelted feveral of them in a very ludicrous manner, with what the fcavengersleft behind, though it coft fome of them broken heads and bruifed breafts from their opponents ; after which they feized on a quantity of peas, potatoes, and meal, which they brought to the town hali to be difpofedsof at the difcretion of the market jury. They alfo went on board feveral Veflels, and were firipping them of their running rigging and Sails, when unforcunately an heavy fhower of rain fell, which difperfed this formidable troop of he- roines, without doing further mifchief.” May 17.
