Charged with theft of silverware valued at $15 and a clock valued at $12 from the home of Pasquale Sca- lise at 263 Allen street, where a wedding reception was held last night, Frank Jakubiak, 35, of 89 Lyman street, also faced charges of reckless driving and violation of the city ordinance pertaining to throw- ing glass on the highway when he was arraigned in police court today followin his arr¢st on West Main following his arrest on West Main Officers E. B. Kiely and L. E. Harper. Judge W. F Mangan appearcd for him and his request for a continu.- ance until Saturday was ordered. Bonds were set at $400. Joscph Stanlonis, 22, of Broad street, and Governor Johmson, 25, who lives at the Y. M. C. A. dormitory, were re- leased by the police today without being arraigned in court. They were arrested shortly afrter 10 o'clock last night by Officers Harp- er and McEvoy on suspicion. Lieutenant Samuel Bamforth was notifled at police headquarters about 10 o'clock that silverware had been stolen at the reception and Officers Harper and McEvoy, on arriving at the home, learned that Stanlonis, Johnson and others had not been in- vited but had walked into the hous: while the guests were making merry under a canopy in the yard. Stan- lonis was in the kitchen and John- son was in the room where the wed- ding gifts were on display when the police arrived. Feared Attack By Guests While Officer Harper was ques- tioning the pair, he observed that indignation was rising against them and rather than risk an outbreak of vielence he' brought them to the police station after handcuffing them, Then he and Officer E. B. Kiely refurned to the Scalise home and made a further investigation after which they left in search of &n automobile which, according to the guests, had driven away a short time earlier, Having been furnished the first three digits of the registration num- _ ber Officers Harper and Kiely drove to Broad street and sighted a coupe which they suspected. Turning - around they followed it west on Brosd street to Burritt and west on ~West Main street. Before overtak- ing it beyond Corbin avenue it had out in and out of traffic at the rate of 45 miles an hour, according to the officers. In the coupe with Jakubiak was George Cormier, 24, of 204 Wash- iagtan astreet, helplessly intoxicated. A cisck which was not the one stol- on fyem the Scalise home was found ia the coupe as was a tray which was identified as having held the sllverware at the reception.
