PA,IAMASUI’I‘SN[IW BRl'l'lSH DIRIGIBLE NEARI.Y READY FOR TEST LEAD BEACH WEAR MMMMM Paris, May 31 lh—!euh clothes, - after golng as far as possible in the way -of elimination, having swung the other way and now are one of the most demaure aspects of the haute couture, " Midsummer models nearly all . have ankle long bell trousers, with ~Mexican influence apparent. The mest exciting of the new models have triangular godets inset below the knes of trouser legs, producing exaggerated flares. Chantal intro- duces the fashion, in pajama suits of rose beige tussore. Mary Nowitsky has many vari- eties of plain and printed silk com- binations of bell trousers, matching vest and plain coats. Some of the new Nowitsky coats have short flar- ed peplums and exaggerated flared foresieeves. The Nowitsky manne- quins wear floppy beach hats, wita or without crowns, and wooden beach sandals of colors to match their beach suita. Plain and printed linen beach suits are another well established form. White gob pants and printed linen coats, with or without sleeves, are going to be worn by many girls. The trousers go over a one piece bathing suit which provides the vest top. For elaborate silk pajama suits, double jackets in contrasting or blending colors are new. Chantal shows panel coats, some of them in cotton velvet. They are three-quar- ter length, slashed erratically to show the pajamas underneath. Chantal stresses emerald green and rose beige for pajamas and blends such colors as violét, aqua- marine blue and green, maroon and rose pink. Quilted tussore is used for one beach cotsume with pancl coat. Knocked Down by Auto. Gets Up and Walks Away Although he was knocked to the sround when he stepped in front of an automobile driven by Harry W. Riedel of 144 Rockwell street at 6:05 Wednesday evening, J. Aelis, aged b5, of 551 Stanley street, rve- fused medical aid and walked away, according to a report made to the police by Mr. Riedel. Mr. Riedel reported that when he was driving south on Railroad street near the Chestnut stfeet intersection, Mr. Aelis stepped from the curbing and into the path of the machine, being knocked down by the bumper. He then picked himself up and re- fused Mr. Riedel's offer to take him to the hospital. 666 is & Prescription for Colds, Grippe, Flu, Dengue. Below is shown a portion of the intcrior of the hull. Bowden, England, May 31 (P— [tainty rather than haste, Sometime in July, if shed trials scheduled for the early part of the month satisfy experts of the British air ministry, the new 100-passenger dirigible R-100 will cast on its first trial flight. Five million cubic feet of hydro- gen gas will be piped into the great airship’s bags when it is ¢ompleted. The dirigible then, without budging from its immense hangar, will be subjected to tests of its lifting pow- er and equilibrium. Something of the magnitude of this indoor tryout may be imagined when it is recalled that the R-100 is about the size of the steamship Mauretania. Several trial flights over England are expected before the ship at- empts a trans-Atlantic cruise to Montreal. One of these early flights will take her to the Royal Airship works at Cardington, 200 miles south of her in Bedfordshire, where her sister ship, the R-101, will be given shed test. Statements made in parliament by Sir S8amuel Hoare, secretary of state for air, have been to the effect that both the R-100 and the R-101 will be flown on long distance cruises this fall—the R-100 to Canada and the R-101 to India, Egypt and possi- bly Australia. Completion of the two ships comes at least a year later than originally expected; but, as pointed out by Sir Samuel, both represent a great step forward in size, and em- body novel principles of design which must be worked out with cer- ¥ s X" e T Each of the dirigibles imately 700 feet long, w mated speed of 66 knots and cruising speed of 53 knots over a range of 4,000 nautical miles.
