Misg Merritt spoke on the great responasibility of nurses, not only in Realing the sick but also as ministers of cheer and haopiness. She stated that psace of soul was a great fac- tor in_Rhealing and that nurses were able te have a great influence over the mental condition of the patients, Nursing Work of God Nursing is_a profession that is closer to the work of preaching and the work of doctors, and in a sense, the work of God, than any other profession open to women or men ufiy and it devolved on the individ- wsl nurse to make the most of the training given her in the hospital. Mrs. Merritt sald that it was the impression left in the minds of those she served that was the true reward of each nurse, and not material gain. She stated that the love of one's work was the most important factor te the. making of & happy mind and & radipnt personality. Diplomsas and Prizes Awarded Diplomas ‘were presented to the class by James 8. North, president of the training school at the hos- pital. . The girls stood in a semi- circle on the, stage and as they were presented with their diplomas, Misa Maude Traver, directress of nurses, presented them with their pins. Before they left the platform they were given bouquéts of flowers. Prizes were given to girls who had stood highest in classes in theory and practice of nursing.
