LOUISTANA NOVES T0 IMPEACH LONG Baton Rouge Paper Says Gover- nor Faces Serions Charges Baton Rouge, La., March 26 (#— The Morning Advocate today sald that impeachment proceeding would be asked against Governor Huey P. Long in a bill of charges to be pre- sented to the legislature today after last night's riotous session including fist fights, in the house of represen- tatives. The paper sald it understood the impeachment move would be based on recent disclosures of “influencing votes in the legislature, mismanage- ment of the affairs of state, favorit- ism" and other charges of “an even more serious nature.” A committee of lawyers from the house was engaged last night in drawing up the reported bill for in- troduction today against the gov- ernor, who has occupied the office| less than 11 months. There was oné casualty in the up- roarious session as members rushed over the press tables, stormed the speaker's stand and caused retire- ment of Speaker John B. Fournet. Blood was drawn from the forehead of Representative Clinton Sayes of Avoyelles, who was caught in the rush, Legislature in Uproar Chairs were upset and objects about legislators’ desks flew about with shouts that the voting ma- | chines were *“fixed” when the npuk-| er announced a vote to adjourn sine die as 68 for and 13.against. BOSSY GILLIS PUTS HIS OIL STATION ON MARKET Bad Boy Mayor of Newburyport An- nounces Plan as He Wins His Fight for Gasoline Permit Newburyport, Mass., March 26 (UP) — The gasoline filling station which has played such an important part in the checkered career of Mayor “Bossy” Gillis is for sale. “Bossy” surprised his city council with this announcement last night just after that august body had granted the ‘Bad Boy” mayor the gasoline permit for which he had battled tirelessly for five years. The council's action placed a stamp of approval on the nationally famous Gillis filling station at State and High streets, the unauthorized operation of which once sent “Bossy” to jail. Previously the city's zoning laws had been adjusted for the mayor's benefit. His honor created a sensation when he explained that he didn't want the fiilling station for personal operation. It had been so widely ad- vertised, he said, that it ought to bring him a fancy price from one of the big oil companies.
