Hall an- | nounced today that he had received | a traffic survey of the main inter- sections in town from the Automatic Signal corporation of New Haven. | The New Haven firm gave an exhibit of its products at the Town hall about a month ago and decided to make a survey of the conditions here | so0 that the people could he advised just where traffic lights are needed the most. A petition was given to Mr. Hall ahout six weeks ago which was signed by 42 Kensington residents. The petition requested that some form of protection be installed at the iritersection of Main street and Kensington road. There has also | heen constant agitation for traffic | lights at the intersections on Berlin strect. According to the New Haven firm, the intersection of the Post and | Middletown road is badly in need of | protection because of the speed and | volume of traffic and the large num- | ber of left turns from the Post road into the Middletown road. Speaking of the Intersection of | the Post road and the New Britain | road, the firm states that it may re- quige some form of protection in the near future, but the situation is not as acute as the Middletown road in- tersection. The comparatively large | arca of this imtersection provides ample space for mbvement of loft turn traffic and unless the situation | during the summer months is very much more dangcrous than at pres- ent, it is not imperative that protec- tion at this corner be provided im- mediately. The survey states that traffic con- ditions at the intersection of ¥arm- | ington road and Beach Swamp road re such that no signal is necessary. | This intersection has been criticized often by residents of Kensington who declare that the corner is dan- {tract for the plans of a | nothing would | Januar Any Number of Styles High Shades and Black ALL SALES FINAL Millinery—=Second Floor $1,000 a year just for & light at the Middletown intersection. Interest In Proposition The article in the Herald last eve- ning announcing the action of the school board in awarding the con- £215,000 building to Junior High school | Bishop & Perry, New Britain archi- tects, caused a great deal of com- ment about town and general satis- faction was expressed because some: thing definite had been started. The need of a new school has long been felt here and no doubt the town hall will be crowded when the proposi- tion is placed beforc the voters for ratification. Feared Accident Mrs. John M. Henry, wife of one of the motorist$ killed on the Ber- | lin turnpike yesterday morning, stat- cd last evening that before her hu band stagted out from home she asked him not to go with his friend, Louis Derosa. Derosa made it a daily habit to ride to Henry's home every morning and take him to work. Besides his wife, Mr. Henry is survived by a young daughter. In the previous meeting between [the two aggregations, the New Brit- ain quintet just managed to score & two point win. The local club has gerous to children on the way to and from school. TRecently State Com- missioner John A. Macdonald of the | highway department inspected the corner and declared that it was latd ont perfectly and nothing could he done to mprove conditions there. | Last week two reflectors were placed at the intersection warning motorists | , of {ho curve. | Protection is imperative for hoth | otorists and pedestrians at the in- | tersection of Main strect and Ken- | #ington road in Kensington, accord- | ing to the survey. This corner has heen the scene of many automobile accidents and no parking rules were established in front of the Kensing- ton post office in an cffort to reduce the danger. The New Haven company also pre- pared blue prints of each intersec- tion and made recommendations for traffic lights needed. Pictures of the corners were also ftaken and presented 1o the selectmen. The matter of installine proper protection at the intersections will Linvolve a great deal of expense, ac- cording to Mr. Hall.
