EXPERINENTS ARE SHOWN SCIENTSTS Twins Found o Be Alike in Tests New York, Dec. 28 (P—Lessons in learning were drawn for educators of the American Association for the Advancement of Science today in ac- counts of experiments with twin girls and children admittedl to achool be- | fore reaching the customary age. The experiment with the twins was conducted by Dr. Arnold Gesell of Yale, in collaboration with Dr. Helen Thompson, beginning when the twing were one month old and continuing for 17 months. They were so nearly alike, physic- ally and mentally, Dr. Gesell re- ported, that they recefved practical- | ly the same ratings in ¢71 out ot 556 separate comparative tests. Special Course At the age of 46 weeks, one was given a special course of training in climbing a stairway and in devising new methods of playing with small | red blocks, while the other was given no opportunity to do these things. At the end of six weeks, the former was a relatively expert climber, but the latter would not go up the stair- case, even with assistance. Con- fronted with the staircase for the second time a week later, howeéver, -/ #he went up without assistance or | training. With two weeks of train- ing, she was able to do as well as her sister, who had been trained three times as long and seven weeks earlier. i3 “These results,” “r. Gesell said, “giva experimental support to the conclusion that learning depends not | only upon practice but also upen the maturity of the nervous system.” START SUIT FOR DUKE FREDERICK'S HOLDINGS Value of Property Piaced at Million —Was One of Richest Hapsburgs Budapest, Dec. 28 (®)—Suit 3r the recovery of property valued at $1.- 000,000,000, once belonging to th: Archduke Frederick, richest mem- ber of the house of Hapsburg. been instituted before the permanent court of international justice at th.
