3 [ Y [wm=] NEW BRITAIN HERALD [msv] ONINS AND CELERY BASIS OF OLD AGE Betier Than Glaodular Opers-. tions, Yiemlse Physician Says Paris, Dec. 11 (UP)—The path to the fountaln of youth winds through the onion and celery patch and not through the monkey jungle. The legendary fountain is the bubbling pot of vegetable broth, according to Dr. - Banjamin G. Hauser, Viennese physician with a knifeless rejuvenation creed. “Glandular operations,” said Dr. Haused, “are no longer effective aft- er two or three years. The pa- tients then relapse. Their state of health is what it was before, and frequently is worse. Dr. Hauser explained that by his method old age could be eliminated, and life prolonged. “Old age is purely conventional,” #aid the physician. "We have come to belleve that it is necessary for men and women to grow old, ac- quire wrinkles, gray hair and tooth- less gums, We have not yet dis- covered how to make life vigorous and effervescent until the end. The ‘way to do it is with food, specifically food taken according to the chemi- cal requirements of the individual." The body according to the physi- clan is made up of 17 chemicals, which it receives from the different food substances it absorbs. Onions, for example, are rich in phosphorous and sulphur. Celery likewise. Anything with a sharp flavor has sulphur, such vegetables as carrots, turnips, cabbage, and kohl. Milk is rich in calcium, which is the bone-building chemical. “Individuals fall naturally into chemical classes,”” continued Dr. Hauser, “Henry Ford, for example, is a pure phosphorous type the man with the high broad forehead, slender and nervous, with a quick and inventive mentality. Lincoln, the raw-boned, slow-moving indi- vidual, leisurely in making deci- sions, but immovable once they are made, was the calcium type. Hoo- ver is the vital type. The course of his encrgy is the vital organs, and it is these he must watch. Not too many potatoes for Hoover. “The Ford type should take plenty of phosphorous. Onions, celery, etc., should form the staples of his diet. He must keep the di- rective agents of his organism sup- plied with the chemicals they need. Tibbetts, seeking a fifth term, was opposed by four others, and in Everett, where Mayor James A. Roche was contending against former Mayor Lester D. Chisholm, whom he de- feated two years ago. Chisholm has been mayor six times. o Mayor John D. Devir of Malden was a candidate for a fifth term against Austin H. Robey, former alderman. In Revere the lay between Michael F.
