H., for the Thanksgiving reces: Social flctivities About ‘Gown Holiday Occasions Gay Round of Parties—Tea Dance at Shuttle Meadow Club—Hart-Kirkham Wed- ding Today — Drama League to Present Plays—Other Events of Interest. 7ITH the boys and girls from nearby schools and colleges home for the Thanksgiving holiday, New Britain has been turned into a mecca of gaiety. There have been luncheons, teas, dances and bridges galore, to say nothing of the numerous theater parties, The Shuttle Meadow club was in gala array for the holiday and it was here that the younger set col-| lected late in the afternoon—coming out in time for the tea dance which was really the higll lig‘ht of the day. % DAY Lois Kirkham's wedding to Stanley Hart is easily the most nciable event of the week’s calendar. Mi has decided upon period costumes for her attendants in har- mony with the colonial atmosphere of the First church and the result should be more than commonly picturesque. The wedding service will be read at 4:30 o’clock and will be followed imme- diately by a large reception out at the country club. The invitation list numbered well into the hundreds and includes many friends and relatives from Brooklyn and nearby places, where the family of Miss Kirkham’s mother has been prominent | for generations, * s ¢ NTERESTING things are heard concerning the Drama League, the newly organized theatrical club of the town. The casts have already been chosen for the three plays which are to be presented on the 12th and 13th of December, Ruth Bassette, author, producer and coach is working zealously with each show in an effort to insure finished productions. Everyone is inter- ested in the venture and it promises to be a popular club sponsored by interesting folks from various professions as well as the so-called “society set‘.” . ECEMBER as always, bids fair to be one of the busiest months of the year. Christmas shopping and charitable entertainments dispute prominence with social events these days. The regular Shuttle Meadow club calendar offers two dances before the holiday season. Philip Stanley’s subscription dance falls early in the month. The contract bridge lessons out at the club continue for two more weeks, to be resumed again early in January. To all this, add the countless home parties, small dinners, bridges, teas, receptions and dances. A busy time indeed!
