Ryan has agreed to sell the Mon- tana Power (‘0. 1o the American Power and Light company a unit in the Electric Bond & Share Co., at a price prescribed as “above $52, 000,000 Ryan said vesterday that he and the other directors would recommend acceptance by other shareholders of the American Power and Light offer. The Montana Power Co., described as one of the higgest generators of power in the northwest, has out- standing 496,333 shares of common stock, which closed on the stock exchange vesterday at $165.50, and has a funded debt of 346,421,000, Subject to approval of its steck holders, the American Power & Light Co. has agreed to exchange two ghares of a newsissue of $5 pre- ferred stock for each share of Mon- tana Power common stock, par value $106. A hanking syndicate has offered to purchase this pre- ferred stock at £32 a share, plus accrued dividend from April 1 It was reported that a letter wiil he sent soon to American Power & Light stockhelders deserihing the proposed exchange of stock and valling a stockholders’ mecting on or about Apri 4 to consider the mat- ter.
