Saint Valentine makes his annual appearance on Tuesday and true to the age old tradition wiil be welcomed with a score of parties. Breakfast bridges open the day, while luncheons, | teas, dinner parties and dancing events follow closely. Not only | do the older people select this day to entertain, but many of the younger school folk have chosen it too. No doubt because | the decorations and favors can be so entrancing. Hearts and darts—cupids with their bows and arrows all tend to make it| a gay day. s & | All sorts of parties are scheduled on today’s social calendar. | The dinner dance at the Farmington Country club is perhaps the foremost of these events, attracting more than the usual number of New Britain people since Mr. and Mrs. William H. Booth are to entertain several friends from town. Another event, occurring in West Hartford, of interest to local folk is the dinner bridge which Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bowman give for Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. Hine. Clesson Parker is to entertain| a group of friends at his “Shack” on the Farmington mountain, | That party claims a large number of the younger married set as well as several of the younger girls and their bachelor escorts, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lancaster who give a supper party for twenty at their home on Ten Acre road, add a bit of | color to the usual affair, for their guests are to appear in costume. What could be more brilliant? All in all it sounds like a very gay Saturday night. A score of other events might readily be added to this long list. There are sure to be any| number of theater parties followed by the attractions of the ever popular night club. * & s 8 Furnishing interesting diversion from the well-nigh con-| tinuous round of parties are the activities among the various | women’s clubs. Next week on Monday comes the annual guest | night of the College club. A brilliant capacity audience is assured at this time for Robert Craik, in a song recital, makes his| second local appearance within the month. Later in the week | comes a bridge party in aid of the Boys’ club—sponsored by the | Ladies’ Auxiliary of that popular and fast growing organiza- | tion, Equally interesting will be the Teachers’ Glee club| concert occurring Thursday evening in the auditorium of the Senior High school. _ PERSON | Visitors In and Out of Town—New York Popular to Local People. Often it is referred to as a “high priced” place. That's the penalty a store pays for leadership. And so, because the Porter & Dyson Co. has earned an enviable reputation for hand- ling the finest diamonds and jewelry, some' people imagine they must pay more. Yet there is no store in New Britain where diamonds and jewelry of quality can be pur. chased more reasonably. The Porter & Dyson Co. Manufacturing Jewelers 54 MAIN ST. NEW BRITAIN
