8 NEW BRITAIN DAILY HERALD, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 1927. WHAT THE FLOOD DID TO CAVENDISH, VERMONT The above two cuts are from pictures taken on the site of the little town of Cavendish, Vermont, after the flood waters had subsided. The original was brought to New Britain by Rufus Hemenway after a visit to the scction last week-end. The original photo is a panorama which was too wide to be fitted properly into a newspaper page, hence two cuts were made of the picture. If the reproductions above are cut out and pasted end to end, they will present the entire panorama, half of which is in each cut. What was once the principal street of the town is shown, the gully running parallel with where it once ran. Seven houses were precipitated into the water where it washed away underneath them, leaving a channel that is, in places, about seventy-five feet below the old ground level. There was not even a brook along the stretch shown above before the flood. The gully is an entirely new water-course, i JUSTIBE S"] A | The grand jury session yesterday | the original corporation and that the doing to be characterized }cuuly been favored with his claims [} I]UNS was comparatively brief, and but new company would continue un- of beneficence and gencrosiiz Yl]UN[i l;fl[][“]fiE for partnershfp at several dances. | alte Lon f iwo witnesses were heard.
