AEW BRITAIN DAILY HERALD, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 1927, An Important Announcement Garber Brothers WO years ago we opened a branch store in New Britain that we might better serve the people of this city by offering them the same fine fumiture at the same price advantages as we offered in our Hartford store. Our Hartford store at that time was not large enough to adequately serve this part of Connecticut. In the past two years our Hartford store has more than tripled in size. New departments have been opened. QOur displav space alone covers 60,000 square feet .- as against 7,000 square feet of display space that we have in New Britain. In the New Bntain store we can show comfortably only 30 suites of furniture as against over 200 suites in our Hartford store, to say nothing of the hundreds of odd pieces and various other service departments. Our Hartford store is now eanipped to serve not only Connecticut but all New England. FURTHER -..... We have found that it is al- most impossible to operate the New Britain store as a branch store and offer the same price advantages as in Hartford. Transnortation costs and other high operating costs would necessitate our charging high- er nrices for fumiture in New Britain. This we do not want to do. Why should people of New Brit- am pay hicher prices than is available in our Hart- ford store? We think it would be unfair to the people of New Britain. ALSO ...... To operate the New Britain store as a separate unit, we would have to greatly en- large our present quarters or build an entirely new store and also open a branch living room suite fac- tory. We did try to do this but were unable to make any advantageous headway with this plan. Waich for Further Announcement in Monday'’s Paper Rather than to break our p]edge to the peop]e of New Britain, by raising our prices, or undergo any change that would necessitate a permanent change in our policy -----. WE HAVE DECIDED TO DISCONTINUE OUR NEW BRITAIN BRANCH. Many hundreds of New Britain people came to our Hartford store anyway, that they may better choose from our great stocks here. The hundreds of people who have bought in our New Britain store will not hesitate to come to our Hartford store, knowing that it is easier to choose from our vast showing, espe- cially when the saving possibilities are so big here. We do not want to undergo any unnecessary ex- pense of bringing our New Britain stock of fumi- ture to Hartford. It is far less expensive for us to reduce our prices to practically cost for a quick clearance in New Bntain ... and at the same time presents a very rare opnortunity to buy fine fumniture at prices that are humanly impossible to chinlicate under any other circumstances. THEREFORE -..... We make our first excep- tion to our successful “No Sale” policy ------ to cut our prices for this event. Remember, please, this is not a sale of “sale quality” merchandise -- - but rather a rare opportunity to buy Garber Broth- ers’ fine standard of quality fumiture at even great- er savings.
