ASK3 SUSPENSION OF ELECTORAL LAW Irish Republicans and Laborites Work Together Dublin, Irish Free State, Aug. 19 (M—Acting under the constitutional ‘clause providing for a referendum, the republicans and laborites today sent to William T. Gosgrave, presi- dent of the executive council, a requisition signed by two-fifths of Dail Eireann demanding a 930-day suspension of the recently passed there- ent Governor- Healy, fore, must withhold the royal a to the law for that period, penc a possible referendum. To obtain the referendum, the petitioners must witliin the 90 days obtain the signa- tures of one-twentieth of the whole €lectorate, It is freely predicted, however. that u general election will be held before the expiration of that perlod. In any event, if the bill finally be- comes law, it will not go into effect until next February, by virtue of an amendment accepted by the govern- ment while the measure was pend- ing in the Dail. The electoral amendment biil would compel all candidates for the Dall Efreann to pledge themselves ‘beforehand to take the cath of alle- glance to the king. MANGAN AGAIN IN OFFICE OF CONNECTICUT A. 0. H. New Britain Man Reelected Vice President at State Convention in New London. Yewrence P. Mangan of Myrtle street, this city, was reelected state vice president of the Ancilent Order ot Hibernians at the state conven- tion which came to a close in New London yesterday. Mr. Mangan is serving his second term in the office and his reelection was unanimous. Other officers were also reelected for another two-year term. They are: President, Michael J. Connolly, New Haven; financial secretary, Ed- ward F. Slavin, Middletown, and treasurer, Daniel J. O’Connor, Bridgeport. State Chaplain Rev. James F. Keating of New Haven will probably be reappointed by Bishop John J. Nilan.
