Second Section ITALY THRILLED BY YOUNG FLIER Entire Country Is Anxiously Watching De Pinedo i v { Rome, Feb. 18 (UP)—New dis- | ease which might be termed aero- | nautic hysteria was epidemic| through Italy today as the country awaited word from West Africa that Colonel Francesco De Pinedo had started on a non-stop flight across the South Atlantic to Brazil. c It De Pinedo succeeds in that per- ilous venture and completes the re- maining stages of his 25,000 mile | flight through South America, the United States, Canada and back to Italy by way of the North Atlantic, it appears that he will definitely have started Italy toward Premier Musso- lini’s new goal for her—that she be- come a nation of flicrs. Meantime, while De Pinedo await- ed at Bolma, Italy took to the air or | to air schools to learn how to manip- ulate the craft which suddenly has become the symbol of the Italian greatness that is to be. The millions of Italians who neither could fly nor | find time to be taught the art con- tented themselves today with talk of flying.
