Statement SCHEDULE NOT OBSERVED Court Meets—Women Voters to Hold | Lawyn Party—Man Injured—Old Resident Tll—Grange Meeting, In- teresting—Other Items of Interest. Berlin's claim of inadequate bus | service between this place and New Britain were substantiated yester- | day afternoon and this morning by a | check made on the busses and com- vared with the schedule published by the Connecticut company. Yes- terday afternoons check revealed the fact that out of five busses run- ning from Berlin to New Britain, cne was on time at Berlin station, the approximate center of the route. Of the others, the difference in time varied from eight minutes early to 13 minutes behind schedule, Al five busses going to Berlin were a few minutes late. This, residents of this place claim, is better than usual and the checker was invited to re-! sume the check this morning. This morning showed ponr serv- fce through this place. The check was again tuken at Berlin station Tt was impossible to take the sched- ule as a guide to the time the bus was due, the vehicles did not once until noon run anywhere near sched- ule time. There were three waits of 40 minutes on busses bound for New Britain and the busses appeared in pairs, one trailing the other. A traveler from New York waited half an hour for a bus and then hailed a taxi in disgust, saying pithv things about bus service to New Britain. | A woman and a child waited at the station entrazce 54 minutes beforc the customary two busses drew up, either very nuch ahead of schedule | or very muck behind, it was impos- | sible to figure which } | Sérvice to Berlin from New Brit- ain was every bit as bad. The short- est time betwsen busses was 38 min- utes and the longest 45 minutes. Bound for Berlin they also ran in pairs, the Meriden bus directly be- hind the Berin bus. On this route | also it was impossible to figure | which bus yas which according to the schedul. At no time did the two appear on schedule hours. | One bushad bound for Meriden this mornhg was forced to wait ten minutes while the driver of the Meriden jus entered his home on | South Mn street, New Britain, for | a brief stay. The Meriden bus| driver ind the Berlin bus driver, running together, stopped for a short chat jist beyond the Berlin station, wheretpon the Meriden bus drew | ahead and took the lead in the pro- cessim. Ot of 45 people interviewed as to tie views on the bus system, 42 sal¢ that it was inefficient and twe said the never used th' busses. One person stuck to it that the bus system was | alequate at the present sched- ile. Eight of the people inter- | ‘lewed were out-of-town travelers, | stranded at Berlin station. Their re- marks were stronger than the resi- | dents, as they had appointments in New Britain that were fast hsmm.1 ing too late to keep. .Fast Berlinites, nsing the electric | traln, added their voice to the com- | vlalnts with demands for a bus serv- | jen to their town. At present they are forced to used the electric train, which riins on a moré widely sapa- rafed schedule, althouch it doe,i RASARIE BT R Tt AT A | necticut - Child Welfare | friends anxiously waiting for some news of | |his recovery. |overturning the vehicle. | flicting | series. nouncement is in the form of an in- vitation as Mrs. Griffith cannot reach all the members wnd requests that they all be present.
