. ACTIVITIES AND PERSONALITIES OF THE SOCIAL WORLD . NEW BRITAIN DAILY HNERALD, SATURDAY, DECEMBER 5, 1925. MRS. GEORGE FLANAGAN Mrs. Flanagan played the lead in “Dust of the Road,” the play which the dramatic department of the New Britain Woman's club presented Wednesday afternoon at the Y. W. C. A. Social Activities About Town The past week has seen a slump in the social life of New Britain, ag far as really large social gatherings are concerned. The more youthful members of the colony home from school and college for the holidays lent a touch of color last week, turning the city into a gay mecca, conse- quently the social life at the club and hotel reached an unusual gaiety. If this be a criterion of the Christmas holidays, the realm of gaieties will indeed be more brilliant than ever before. The Monday night dancing class members are greatly interested in “A Night in Vienna,” as their final dancing class party is called. 1t comes Monday, Dec. 14, at the Shuttle Meadow club, and, as usual, many dinners will be given before the dancing. The class is so large this season that each member is allowed only two invitations. It goes without sayving that this is the party of the season. Liverything is to be very gay, the club to he illuminated and decorated elaborately, while a novel entertainment has been arranged. G 6D Still another brilliant party in prospect is a black and white ball to be given at the Shuttle Meadow ciub on Wednesday evening, Dec. 16, by Mr. and Mrs. Judd of Berlin for Mr. and Mrs. Carlos M. Fetterolf. ey Much ingenuity is being displayed by women of society who have been for days active in preparation for entertain- ments, bazaars and fairs in behalf of various charitable institutions of the city. Of course, at this season of the vear the bazaars predominate, and there have been all sorts of them in the past week, with more to come, where really profitable Christmas shopping may be done, the pastime giving the purchaser the added satisfaction of helping some worthy beneficiary. Next to the New Britain Musical club concerts at the Capitol theater the gatherings of society for music are those that the Wennerberg male chorus has continued to bring out since its organization a few years ago. With Miss Mary Magnell featuring on the program, the chorus will give a concert Wednesday evening, Dec. 9, in the First Lutheran church, drawing its audience from all classes of New Britain's social world. . . | The Woman's club today fooksynovelty, an understanding of the ck with & il s words would have been of advan Center \| tazo, although Mr. Lambert was at | Mur- | pains ta explain t appeared fn o | songs before he sang them 2t intrigned a| Mr. Murphy vielded a . ctivi- | taste in program, doing Handel exquisite. manner, and going the Ir German erican schoo nature of the ! catholic | he Woman's s with song writers was the popu- is No Death,” by O'Har: ided a musi- | tempo.
