ANDOVER-HARVARD PLANS CONTINUE Officials Hope fo Finish Out Sohool Year , Cambridge, Mass, Sept, 24 (B—It is hoped at Harvard university that the theologlcal school may be able to go through the present academic vear as now organized in spite of the recent decision of the state eu- preme court that its formation through affiliation of the Harvard Divinity school and the Andover Theological seminary was void. Tn a statement today Dean Willard ry of the theological school “The final decree, the details of which will have an important hear- ing on this subject, has not yet been entered. Under the circumstances the school has no option but to open on Sept. 28 in accordance with its announcement. About 50 students are expected and these will be reg- istered on the first day of the term as members of the theological school in Marvard univers “It is hoped that the ultimate de- | cision of the case will be such that {he school may continue and con- | clude the present academic vear as now organized. Should the resolu tion of the ool into its conetitu ent parts, the Harvard Divinity | cchool and Andover Theological | seminary, become necessary during | the year, such readjustment could | be made without serfous fnterrup- tion of academic work.” | “The school would then revert to | the plan of afiliation drawn up in | 1908 when Andover moved to Cam- bridge. The decision of the court | does not affect this plan. Under this | carlier affiliation Harvard Divinity | school and Andover seminary lived and worked amicably together from 1908 to 1922. Should the change he necessary the divinity school and Andover faculties would be at once | reconstituted as separate bodies. | Students who had enrolled in the {heological school would bhe given the option of being enrolled in Har- vard Divinity school or in Andover Seminary. “So long as the plan of affilfation | of 190§ remains in force, courses ziven by teachers in Harvard uni- | versity, if approved for that purpose | by the Andover authoritles, will be | accepted for the Andover degree of bachelor of divinity, and courses given by teachers In Andover Sem- | inary, 1t approved for that purpose by the Harvard authorities, will be accepted for the Harvard degree of bachelor of theology.
