The primary interest of society at present is the annual Shuttle Meadow Club cabaret and it will center around that event for the next two weeks. Rehearsals will start on Monday of next week and those taking part will be kept busy with rehearsals and costume planning until the night of the cabaret which comes on Saturday, | March 29th. The talk of the younger | set in town is “Who is to be in the Carbaret?” *“What part will they take?” Someone evidently will not | tell and tongues are awag and curi- osity is at high pitch. Club members remember with what great success the cabaret was presented last year under the directorship of Mr, and Mrs. Arthur Kimball and Mrs. Howard Parson. With Mr. and Mrs. Kimball and Mrs. Parsons in charge this year the affair will even surpass that of last year. Already table reservations are coming in at the club, several have planned large dinner parties and others will entertain only a few guests. The party is really “the thing’” on the club calendar, Informal teas, impromptu bridge and Mah Jongg parties have added a bit' of color to an otherwise rather dull week, with the exception of the Wednesday bridge at the Shuttle Mea- dow club and the Trinity benefit bridge at the Burritt hotel this aft- ernoon there have been no really large parties, due no doubt to the l.enten season, although the remain- der of the season holds much in the way of entertainments for the phil- anthropic and charitable purposes, | which wiil keep gaijety to the front despite the Lenten lull. Next week will be given over almost entirely to the Hospital bridge, nearly everyone | is helping in on way or another, mak- | ing candy or sailting nuts, selling tickets and buying tickets, which aft- er all is what helps most. The affair will take on an air of soclal impor- tance and will be one of the largest parties of its kind ever held in New Britain, Members of the younger set will act as ushers and sell candy and nuts during the play. Quite a number in town will be hostesses at dinners pre- ceding the gvening play, some of | them entertaining at the hotel while " others prefer home parties, One of the first of the spring wed- dings will be that of Miss Helen Nackliffe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Frank E. Rackliffe of Kensington avenue to Carl Mason, son of Mr. and Mrs, Carl Mason of Bristol, which takes place on Thursday afternoon, March 20th, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred O, Rackliffe.
