DR, BUSH MAY COME BEFORE JURY Local Man Got Diploma From Medical College Under Suspicion Dr. J. W. Bush of New Britain and his brother Dr. A, P. Bush, formerly of this city but now said to be in Memphis, Tennessee, may be called to testify before the sesion of the extra- ordinary ggand just next week, ac- cording to Feports today in connection Wwith the investigation of the manner of procuring *doctors' licenses. When asked this morning if they would be called, State Attorney Hiugh M. Alcorn said it was not un- likely that Dr. J. W. Bush would be called before the grand jury, although he did not care to commit himself definitely upon the matter. _Asked if efforts were being made 00" ve Dr, A. P. Bush come back to testify Mr, Alcorn said he preferred not to state at this time. Drs, J. W. and A, P, Bush _are graduates of the Kansas City college of Medicine and Surgery and both ve practiced in this city for several years. Recently Dr. A. P. Bush left rather suddenly. When a Herald representative in- terviewed Dr. J. W. Bush and asked him if it were true that his brother had left under suspicious circum- sances while Dr. J. W. was out of the city, the latter denied that there was anything firregular, but stated that his brothet who was working for | him and not a partner in the firm of Don’t Get Bald Cuticura Does Much To Prevent It \ \im . P. jush had left under suspicious cir- cumstances, Mr. Alcorn said_he pre- ferred not to discuss any evidence he might have before the session of the grand jury. # Dr. 4. W. Bush, who is said to be a former minister although never or- dained, was one of a group of stu- dents who accompanied Dr. Date R. Alexander to New Haven 'in July, 1920, for examindtion before the state eclectic board of examiners. Alex- ander now is under arrest in Missouri fr'alleged complicity in the selling of diplomas by this college to men who were incompetent and who ~had not finished the, prescribed course of study. His activities in this state are being investigated by the Connecticut authorities. f Dr. J. W. Bush graduated from a normal “school at Buffalo, which said was equivalent to a high school course. For three years he rked as a saleeman and “local prescher’” and conducted a correspondence school in chiropractic natureopathy. Since coming to New Britain, Dr. Bush has built up quite a large clien- tele, including many of the best fam- llies. The fact that he was a graduate of the school now under investigation his reacted agdinst him and several ago Dr. T. Eben Reeks intimated that Dr. Bush was not welcome at the New Britain general hospital. At the present time graduates of this school are not permitted to practice at the local hospital. Want Composite Board. The feeling is almost universal among local physicians that ‘a com- posite state examining board, such as was suggested in a recent interview to the Herald by Dr. T. Eben Reeks, su- | perintendent of the local hospital, is just exactly what is needed. Dr. Franklin R. Coombs, of New Britain, chairman of the state exam- ining board for natureopaths and | president of the National Socicty of ; Natureopaths, stated this that there should be a board consist | ing of or JNopath, one homeopat | one ot | tor, path Each applicant to | practice, he sald, should be required | to go through a general academic ex- amination first, then a general exam- | ination in anatomy and physiology be- |fore he was permitted to go any | farther.
