State Women’s Trade Union League Will Meet New Haven, Aug. 31.—A call to a conference of women workers sent by the New- York state women's trade union league would probably go in Connecticut to the women finishers erganization in the hatters trade at Danbury, the tobacco strippers’ union at New Haven, the ladies’ garment workers and corset workers’ unions at Bridgeport and the women's organiza- tions in the textile industry in the ‘northeastern part of the state, which are the chief unionized trades. Building Board Vacancy Blamed for Code Delay Work on the building code, which, together with plumbing and electrical codes, is to be submitted to the com- mon council for adoption as soon as all have been completed, is being held up by the failure of Mayor A. M. Paonessa to appoint a building com- missioner to succeed Commissioner R. J. Dixoh, who has resigned. The commission is one of five mem- bers, some of whom are out of the city. Because Dixon's successor has not been named, there has been dif- ficulty in gettin ga quorum to tran- sact business. Mayor Paonessa -has. on numerous occasions tried to hasten work on the code, but unless a new commissioner is named soon, the work will prob- ably be delayed longer. il payiiiiiiit ‘ GOING AWAY f LABOR DAY?
