BAD AUTO GRASH ON CHESHIRE HIGHWAY A ily Land One Dead; Three of Family Lan in Hospital Bouthington, July 27.~Following an automobile accident which oc- curred on the New Haven and eshire state road near the South- ngton state road near the Southing- ton and Cheshire town line late yes- terday afternoon James Carey of Waterbury was taken to the New Haven hospital suffering with a frac- ture of the skull from which he later died. Misa Mary Carey, his daughter, deep gash in her head near the ase of the skull and Mre, Edward arey his daughter-in-law has a bruised forehead and other injuries. Edward Carey the driver, his son, escaped injury. The car was completely demolished. Attempt to Pass, The accident was caused Cavey attempting to pass an auto- mobile owned by Willlam Water- man, proprietor of the Waverly inn who had hls car parked on the right side of the road. In endeavoring to pass the car, Mr. Carey, to aveid he- ing struck by another car which was coming towards him, swerved his car by Mr. to turn turtle. Constable Michael Coleman of Cheshire, arrived shortly after the accldent, and after an investigation he was satisfled that none of the drivers of the cars was at fault. No arrests were made. Boston, July 27.—Short of funds necessary to make the the Rev. Percy A. Kilmister, of the Curtis Memorial Baptist church of Concord, N. H, has shipped as an ordinary seaman on| the Cunard liner Scynthia that e might go to France and thus visit tihe graves of his two brothers who list their lives in the war. The minister was as happy as a lark as the vessel got under way. He was clad in soiled dungarces and a pair of much worn working shoes thgt did not match. For the past three days he has haunted the docks of the transatlantlc lines seeking a chance to sign up on a vessel headed for some European port. The Rev. Mr. Kilmister has been in this country since 1912. He is an Englishman and has had experience on the sea hefore.
