Five ¥French Alrplanes Will Assemble at Nice for Their Hop-Off Toward the East | Niece, Irance, March 30,—The “round-the-world-squadron” or “Cap- tain Bapt's Flying Circus,”” as it is known in French aviation circles, has been assembled at the Istres Airdrome near Marseilles, and will start tomor- row for Nice, where it will take off on its flight to circle the globe, Bapt has decided to start next Sunday in spite of the fact that it is All Fools' Day. The squadron will be made up of three Goudron-Leseurre monoplanes and two Spad-Herbemont biplanes, The monoplanes will each be of 180 horsepower, No, 1, painted red, will be piloted by Captain Mabon, one of France's greatest war fighters; No, 2, blue, by M. De Galllard, and No, 3, white, by M. Picard, No 4, biplane, will be of 370 horsepower, 1t will be painted white and driven by Captain 1. Domme, Captain Bapt will steer No. 5 which will be decorated with a painted tricolor. It will be of 180 horsepower. After the aviators leave Nice, the program is to fly eastward, crossing Asia by way of India to Japan, and thence to Nome, Alaska; then down the Pacific Coast of North and South America to Southern Chile, and thence over the Andes to Argentina. The jump across the Atlantic will be from Pernambuco, Brazil, to Dakar, French West Africa, whence the fliers will proceed northward to the starting point at Nice.
