Several hundred persons submitted dialogues to fill in the words sup- posed to have been used by the char- acters whose pictures were printed in this week's “Missing Dialogue” con- test, An oddity of the contest was the number who seemed to think that the conversation between the fat man and the thin individual, with a pro- | fessional appearance, had to do with moonshine or prescriptions for some of the pre-Volstead stuff. The Dia- logue Editor was under the impres- sion that the humor of the situation lay in the difference in physical ap- pearance between the individual who seemed to be at the doctor's and the physician who was attending him. Therefore, he awarded his prizes on this basis. Mrs. M. A. McKean, of 100 Daly avenue, city, has what was, in our opinion, the best solution to offer. | She will be awarded the first prize of $56.00. R. A. Wooding, of 259 Main street, was the secomd best hu- morist, for which he receives $3.00 | and Ernest Strom, of Sexton Drive ran him a close second, he to receive the third prize of $2.00. Mrs. McKean's answer to the prob- lem of *“what are they saying?” was as follows: Doctor—"You will have to change' your diet to reduce your weight.” Patient—"All right, Doctor, I will come to board with you.” Mr. Wooding has this to submit: Doctor— “Um, high blood pressure, hardening of the arteries, fatty degeneration of the heart. My dear, you must eat fess, the grave is yawning for you." Patient—"Well let 'er yawn, in my case, -at least, there is something to yawn for.” The third prize winner was: Doctor—‘Your pulse is beating twice as fast as it should.”” Patient— “Most likely, I am twice as big as I should be.” Next week's picture will appear | Monday evening to be run until Thursday; try for a prize.
