Landers to Build Shop The most recent of these structures is the § factory building o Stanley street, to be erected and oc- cupied by Landers, Frary & Clark's. The structure is to be six stories in height and of brick construction. All the arrangements of a modern fac- tory building are to he included in the plans of the company. Work is to be started at an early date and the plant will be occupied immediately upon its completion Reflects Good Business The construction of new factory tuildings or the extension of struc- tures already built is one harometer by which conditions of industry may be accurately judged. Landers’ de cision to build at this time is taken an indication that its directors have betterment in indus- trial conditions in the near future and are preparing to meet better business when it arrives Will Affect Realty As is the case wherever buildings are construct it is ex- pected that realty values will ma- terially increase in the southeastern section of the city as a result of the announcement that new branch of the L. F. & C. factory is to be built. New Homes Needed Several hundred operatives will probably be engaged in the new plant and the natural movement will be in the way of providing homes near their place of employment. There is not a great deal of opportunity for velopment in the immediate locality of the new plant, but available home sites within a few minutes walk are said to be numerous. The Normal School The construction of a new State Normal school plant in Stanley Quar- ter has proved a boon for those for- tunate enough to own land in that locality. There is no question that the Normal school will beautify this section of the city. With hun- dreds of young women attending the institution the necessity of providing boarding houses with the proper home-like atmosphere is bound to be felt and with this end In view land developers are turning their atten- tions to this section. Activity Elsewhere. Marked activity in building and trading lines is likewise reported from geveral other sections of the city.
