BEEF SITUATION 1S IMPROVING RAPIDLY * Farmers Are Also Getting Opti- mistic Says Report Chlcago, June 20.—The great Amer- fcan beefsteak and succulent roast beef are on their way back to the menu of the ordinary citizen, accord- ing to a report made public today by the National Institute of Progressive Farming. The reason is simple, according to Guy H. Hall, director of the institute. It is that with thegdeflation of the grain market it has again become profitable to market feed grains via the beef market, Beef Situation. 'Our survey of .the beef situation, which has been on for a month, cov- ered the four leading pure-breed cat- tla assoclations, namely, the HereYord, Aberdeen-Angus, Shorthorn and Gal- loway, the Im\dln‘ livestock markets and some 17,000 farm implement denlzrn mld Mr, Hall, he Investigation,” continued Mr. H-ll ‘shows a markéd increase in the sale of bulls to farmers and range cattle growers, This means increased herds. All reports agree on that, Herds were terribly depleted during the deflation period and there is still a shortage, but the movement back to normal is now in full swing, As production increases so will consump- tion, and the rehabilitation of all in- dustry will be that much advanced. Farmer Optimistic, “It is not an exaggeration to state that optimism has returned to the farmer. He sees a pure profit in this season's work and he is buying tractors and farm implements and using them. Our hog survey, recently made public, indicated that; the beef survey confirms it and our sheep sur- vey, now in progress, will clinch it I am sure. “The survey indicates a profitable NEW BRITAIN DAILY HERALD, TUESDAY, JUNE 20, 1922, market for beef for at least eighteen months longer, and with honést re- talling of meats, the American work- ing man should have his beef on the table at least once a day, as of ‘yore, It will not be the grower's fault if he cannot afford f{t. England has grown to greatness on beef; so has the United tBates. The return of the steak and the roast to the table is of international importance, AERIAL MAIL Passenger and Freight Service Will Also Be Startcd Between Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane Via East i . Recently a number of women did ap- pear in a “No" dance stage at Ura on Awajl Island, the resylt being that a protest meeting was held. For seven centuries men have held this monopoly, the dance soméwhat on the line of the Russlan Ballet, in that the dance i{s the performance of a play, being performed by them.
