14 OIL TREATMENT 1§ | (00D FOR LEPROSY Shows Remarkable Results in, Checking Disease in Japan Milan, Oct. 7.—The Italian Socialist party which will met here October 10 to debate a change of tactics is rep- lesented in the Italian Chamber of Deputies by 122 members, the strong- est party numerically but it is com- Posed of dissenting groups. If the differences of these are not composed, the party’s compact representation may be divided into small and cliques. Lining up for the convention are progressives, anti-government groups, anti-Russian faction, pro-unity, anti- internationalise and centrist tend- encies. They are meeting mainly to decide whether the Socialist deputies shall participate in the government or line up against the government on every proposal that it makes. %The right wing under Deputies Turati, Treves and Modigliani is for Joining in wth.the Bonomi govern- factions ment and getting what they can in the way of legislation. The left wing is for holding out MOTHER! Move Child’s Bowels with ‘Hurry mother! Even a sick’ child loves the “fruity” taste aor “California ,Fig Syrup” and it never fails to open the bowels. A teaspoonful today may prevent a sick child tomorrow. It con- stipated, bilious, feverish, fretful, has cold, colic, or if stomach is sour, tongue coated, breath bad, remember @ good cleansing of the little bowals ig often all that is necessary. Ask your druggist for genuine “Cali- forni Fig Syrup” which has direc- tions for bables and children of all ages printed onh bottle. Mother! You must say “CALIFORNIA” or you may get an imitation fig syrup. natil the Socialists in full force can take possession of the government and the “cpoils of victory”. These are headed by Signor Serrati, direc- tor of the Socialist press, and Dep- uty Baratono. The right wing is called the Inborateurs” and the Itft, the aborateurs.” The Ti present “col- “anti- looks upon the situation as one wh Vo 3 considerable socialistic legislation. The leaders have been somewhat kindly disposed to President Bomomi, who at one time was a flery leader in the Socialist ranks but was dropped from the of- ficial rolls of the party because of a too patriotic attitude. That wing is insistent on partici- yation in the government and many the deputies of that faction are reported to favor deserting the So- cialist Party in a body if tht prevail- ing sense of the convention goes for “anti-collabpration.” % The left wing holds that non-par- ticipation in the government puts the Socialists in a strategic position be- cause if they are not in the govern- ment they will not be responsible for asy misdeeds blameable to the gov- e-nment. On the othtr hand, if any credit is due, they are prepared to claim it, they contend, without hav- ing borne any responsibility. Tht ITtalian newspapers have com- plained bitterly of the Socialist ab- stention from the responsibility of government. ‘While the discussion on “collabora- tion” and ‘anti-collaboration” will occupy the main attention, there will be inside politics dealing |especially on the Russian situation. % The Third Internationale asked for the expulsion of Serrati and Turati irom the party. This would mean that more than two-thirds of the or- ganization would be outside the pale of the Third Internationale. The re- mainder, headed by Deputy Baratono,, Deputy Lazzari and others. woul conform to the dictates of the Mos- cow congress. A party split on these lires seems, however, rather unlike- v. Deputy Lazzari, who was a delegate to Moscow, sent there opposing the LCenine and Trotzky dictatorship but returned ‘all for them. Describing tt.e conversion, he said: “On his way to Moscow, Lazzari was struck by thunderings and light- nings like St. Paul on his way to Dam- ascus and thereafter became a convert of Lenine."” F&s= SOLDIER DEAD. Brussels, Oct. 7.—Farmers working their fields in the war regions of Bel- gium have been digging up hundreds of bodtes of poldiegl that were not discovered by the official military un- dertakers. WORK WITHOUT COST. Strood, Eng., Oct. 7.—Rev. L. Ham- mond had little funds to prepara the foundation for the parish hall build- ing. So he formed a ‘“diggers’ bri- gade” from the men in his congrega- tion and had the work done free. NEW BRITAIN DAILY HERALD, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7, 19*'.
