Y., July 15— Patrick Hennessy, President of Lake Plavid village; Sewell Bruce and Wil- liam Benham of Lake Placid, and John J. Green of New York were fined $50 each before Justice Miller yeiterday morning on the charge of hunting deer with a spotlight. The party was discovered near Harriets- town last night by Game Protector E. ». Vosburgh, who notified the state troopers. The men were in an automobile and P the troopers gave chace in a second car. Trooper James G. Welsh said later that one man stood up on the back seat of the fugitive car with rifle in hand. The troopers “fired wild” and called on the hunters to stop. In a forty-mile-an-hour chase the \ - troopers riddled the pack tires and gasoline tank of the front car. When alongside, Welsh climbed out on the fender and jumped into the car, whose driver still refused to stop. Welsh seized Benham’s neck with both hands and churned him up and down in his seat until he stopped the car. Benham was fined an additional $10 24or resisting an officer. All the fines - were paid and the ren discharged. Benham was employed by Hennessy a3 chauffeur. Hennessy, it was said, has been frequently arraigned for vio- Jations of the game law.
