BRITISH ARMY AND NAVY PREPARING (Continued from First Page.) straits in accordance with the terms of the treaty of Sevres. Should hostile action be necessary, British naval forces may be employed in opposing the Turks, the London Times stated today. British Fleet Near Malta, July 6.—(By the Associated Letters of Gratitude. Eloquent language and illustrations in advertising may appeal to many, but after all'it is the homely, sincere letters from women, overflowing with heartfelt gratitude for health re- Sto! by Lydia E. Pinkham's Vege- | table Compound, that convince other suffering women that there is a medicine that will help them also. Many such letters are being published in this paper from day to day, and it is to any woman's advantage who suffers from female ailments in any form to give this old-fashioned root and herb remedy a trial, Press)—Virtually the entire British _lediterranean fleet with all the at- tendant ships, including the aircraft vessel Pegasus, is en route for or just within rcach of Constantinople where the situation is viewed with some anxiety. It is said that British military reinforcements also are going out from England. Never before has the harbor of Mal- ta been so empty. Even the reserve ships here are destined for the East and the vessels which recntly sailed in that directions have carried large supplies of munitions. In view of these movements the commander-in chief of the Mediterranean, Admiral De Roeback who was expected here July 21 is not considered likely to come. The only exceptions to the naval movement eastward are five vessels of the light cruiser squadron under Ad- miral Tydwhitt which are at Alexan- dria. Members of the Italian Sunday school connected with the South church, and conducted under the auspices of the City Mission, believe in the old adage, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” Last Friday was the date set for the annual picnic of the Sunday school. A large crowd of the children appeared that morning ready for a day's outing at Kensing- ton. But the day was rainy and they were sent home with instructions to come Saturday. Saturd. morning, about a dozen youngsters braved the downpour and were ready to go to the picnic, rain or no rain. Again they were disappointed. But you can’t fool a child. Yester- day the weather was fair, July 4th was over, and all things seemed favor- able. Forty two youngsters packed lunches, put on their holiday clothes and assembled at the city mission early in the morning. Not the least enthusiastic over the long delayédd outing were the four teachers. That the day equalled if not surpassed Member F. T. D. everybody's expectations, goes with- out saying.
