The St. Matthew’s baseball team defeated the team representing Hart- ford in the Intercity’ Church League, by a score of 4 to 2 yesterday, at Keney Park, Hartford. The game was an exciting one, neither team scoring for six innings. In the seventh inning Hartford scored two runs but in the eighth the New Britain team came back with three. The victory was clinched in the ninth when the final run was scored, making the lpcal team winners, 4 to 2. Last Saturday, at Walnut Hill Park, the St. Matthew's team won an over- time game from the Meriden team by a score of 5 to 4. The winning run in the tenth inning was brought about by the losing pitcher passing two men, when two were on base, thus forcing home the runner on third. New Britain stands high in the league, having won three games and lost none. Bristol comes next with one won and one lost. Next comes Hart- ford with one victory and two defeats aAd Meriden last with two defeats. Next Saturday the locals will play the Bristol team at Walnut Hill Park, at 2 o'clock. 2 5 to 4—Local The supply of used cars on the market is great— Find a customer for your auto through the Herald classified column. First, it makes your step light an delastic, so that your weight is swung easily from one foot to the other. Then the rhythmic play of the muscles pro- duces a delightful glow that brings a lift to vour head and a light to your eyes Graceful, free-stepping, you become a living expression of the poetry of motion. But you miss it all If you're wearing un- comfortable shoes. Cramped toes and weak arches do not accord with that buoyant sen- sation of owning the world. But the Canti- lever Shoe frees you from any consclous- ness of your feet save their perfect eas. Cantilever Shoes have plesty of toe room, a natural inner sole nine and heels rightly placed for proper balance.
