When Dempsey lands a smash on the chin or head of his sparring partners their nervous sys- tems receive such a shock that a se- vere headache, lasting for several hours usually results. Revenue Men Figure That Amount from Dempsey-Carpentier Bout, New York, June 10..—Internal Rev- enue officials yesterday quoted figures to show that Uncle S8am will make the greatest profit out of the Dempsey-Car- pentier bout. In taxes the government will collect more than will Tex Rickard or either of the principals. If Dempsey collects $300,000 for his share his in- come tax will amount to $161,270. Fig- uring that Carpentier's sharc of the purse will be $200,000, the Frenchman will have to pay a tax of $03,334. It is estimated that the 10 per cent. amuse- ment tax will amount to about $100,000, and the state of New Jersey will collect a like sum. Rickard's profit will prob. ably be in the neighborhood of $100,- 000, and his tax will increase the gov- ernment’s total so that it wiil be con- derably more than half a million dol- ars.
