It is not because of anything ysieal, their welght, their features, ¢ the color of their halr. The ma- rial is wholly subordinated. What pen honor In them is the mental it and the | it is that | simply, an individual state of right- mindedness always thinking in accord with God, the true mind. He is “the compound idea of God, including all vight ideas” (Science and Health, p. 475), Concept of Man Refuted Isaiah solght to turn the thought of his people away from this errone- ous mortal congept of man with the adwmonition, “Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils; for wherein is he to be accounted of?” (Isalah 2:22). In other words, stop thinking of the mortal material sense of man as the true map, for there is absolutely n oway to ac- count for him as a creature of God. In Romans 9:8 Paul makes the per- fectly explicit statement, “They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God,” and elsewhere he speaks of the im- perative necessity to “put off . the old man, which is corrupt . and . . put on the new man, whlch after God is created in righteousness” (Ephesians 4:22-24.) Christian Science not only presents the true concept of man but shows that it is attainable in some consider- able measure right here and right | now. It shows that in each and every | one of us, and there is no exception, no, not one, there is a natural ability and competency to mentally work our way out of the wilderness of material bLeliefs, out of the net of material selfhood into our natural unity and agreement with ever present good, Mind, the consciousness which is God, our real life and being. The process is wholly mental, as Paul indicated when he said, “Be ye transformed by the renewiag of your mind” (Romauns 12:2). Chiristian Science. ‘Well, then, how does one begin to apply the teachings of Christian Science? First of all he begins men- taliy to resist evil. He follows the Scriptural advice to resist the devil, whioh his study of Christian Science has taught him is but the counterfeit eovdl mind which tries to operate through evil thoughts projected into his consciousness, - or through the physical senses. He learns to become @ semtry at the door of thought and to rejeot every thought or suggestion which is not good, is not an expres- ston of God, the one real Life, for he Has taken his mental stand for what, God has made him to be and he is de- tormined to assert and prove his mental and lving unity with the Mind and Life which is God, knowing that it is natural and right for him to do so and that God has endowed him with the ability to do it. Healing. The real meaning of the world heal is to make whole, to restore to orig- inal integrity. Christian Science alone among the healing agencies of the present day accepts this word at its full meaning. Christan Science not only heals the mental or physical dis- order but sets in motion those pro- cessos of thought which result in- evitaly in the restoration of man to his original integrity as the individual expression of God. Only forty years ago the first Christian Science church was organ- ized in Boston. Since then nearly eighteen hundred organizations have been formed throughout the world. Christian Science is offering to the world today a volume of testimony as to, the efficacy of its healing work un- excaelled in the history of therapeutic systems. From business men, educa- tors, lawyers, judges, physicians, min- isters, and men and women of all trades and classes it is offering evi- dence of health and happiness re- stored to the jndividual. Praycr, It has already been pointed out that the practice of Christian Science involves mental activity, an effort to think in accord with God, the good mind. This right mental activity is true prayer and is the one way by which individual man can cast off the shades of hell and abide in heav- en. The Bible admonition, “Pray without ceasing,” is then seen to mean to think rightly always. It is right mental activity based on a true concept of God and man. This is true prayer, a vital, living, thinking activ- ity. It is all a mental process. Every individual must sooner or later, here or hereafter, learn to pray aright, for only in this way does he learn to live aright. When one really discerns what prayer is, his prejudices give way and he perceives it to be the highest joy and privilege of man, for it is the asserting in thought and life of his natural unity with God. The Bible and Science. The bible and *“Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures” by Mary Baker Eddy, the Christian Science textbook, are to the Christian Scient- ist the statute books of life. From | them he learns the truth that is science, religion, and medicine. Who can hope to solve the problem of life while disregarding the teachings and laws set forth by those who have most clearly perceived the primal facts of being, including the great Way-shower who overthrew the incurable disease and of death with the understanding of spiritual law. Merely to believe that Christ Jesus once lived on earth gets one no nearer heaven than to be- lieve. in the personal existence of Christopher Columbus. It is the understanding of his teachings and his ethods that saves. The bible states, science and health amplifies and clarifies, the teachings of spiritual law. | claims of PLAN COALITION GOVT, Copenhagen, March 21.—Negotia- tions looking to the formation of a coalition government for soviet Rus- sia has been gpened Nikolai Lenine Bolshevi leaders of the naboud] fvolutionaries, - INEW- CONSTITUTION TO BE USED SOON Poland’s Government Will Be Run According to System Re- cently Adopted, Warsaw, March 21 (By Associated ' Press).—The new constitution adopt- ed by Poland will go into effect as soon as the necessary legal machin- ery is set in motion. PLAN TO SAVE MANY MILLIONS IN YEAR Service i Creation of National Railway Is Expected to Be Great Economic Factor. ‘Washington, March 21.—A pian de- signed to effect a saving of millions of dollars annually in the operation of the railroads of the country by co-ordina- tion of their facilities and services through operation of a railway service agency to be created by act of congress was presented to Chairman Cummins of the senate interstate commerce com- mittee today by the national associa- tion of owners of railroad securities. S. Davies Warfield, president of the or- ganization said that only ‘‘intensive economical methods’’ in railroad admin- istration could prevent ultimate govern- ment operation of the roads, to be fol- lowed by government ownership. Through the creation of a national railway service, as proposed in the plan, to be a purchasing agency for cars and other equipment to be leased to the roads without profit,-the public, Mr. Warfield said, would derive a ‘‘more - immediate and substantial benefit’’ than could be obtained through the physical consolidation of the railroad properties. The Irish committee of this city has appointed people in every ward to go from house to house canvassing for the cause. It is hoped by the com- mittee that the people of New Brit- ain will give generously. NEW PRICE IN RECORDS.
