The Amphion Dramatic elub of the New Britain High school presented three well known short plays in the school auditorium last evening. The plays were well rendered by the asso- clation and much credit should bde given the director, Mrs. A. C. Guil- ford, who was responsible for the suc- cess. In view of the fact that the plays were worked up within fess time than two weeks special mention should be made of the fact. The first play of the evening was “Joint Owners In Spain. In this sketch four girls took the parts, the leading one, that of an old crabbed woman, being character- ized by Grace Brown The scene of the second act entitled “Swimmin’ Pools” was lald in Gris- wold's Dump. in this, when the cur- tain raised, three youths sat around a burning fire. State Director Ray- mond Smith gave the audience little “to be desired in the scenery and ef- fects of this play. His campfire was very realistic. Three characters who played up well were Paul Lucas, Dwight Latham and William Ruther- ford. The biggest suocess of the evening was “Neighbors.” The honors iIn this play were taken by Laura Nell as “Mis’ Diantha Abel” and Leroy Fleisher as “Peter.” FEilba Anderson and Margaret Foster were also good. Music for the evenlng was furnished by the High school orchestra wunder the direction of Miss liga Harvey. IMA—: ]'-OI FER BEATEN. George P.
