New York, March 1l.—Promoter Tex Rickard, the impresario of box- ing at Madison Square Garden, after a protracted session over the long distance telephone yesterday, added another gem to his collection by clos- ing for a bout between Johnny Wil- son, middleweight champion, and Mike O'Dowd, former title holder. The long-awaited meeting between the two will take place in the Garden ring next Thursday evening, March 17, when the natal day of St. Patrick will also be celebrated. In this bout Wilson will for the first time seriously defend his middle- welght laurels since he won the title from O'Dowd in Boston last May. When the Hub fighter climbed into the ring that evening, he was prac- tically an unknown as far as boxing fame was concerned, but when he climbed out he was the champion of the world. Since that time he and the dethroned O'Dowd have been sparring verbally from state to state, but without result until Rickard clinched the meeting yesterday. WHAT'S YOUR WIFE WORTH? —Mrs. Cora Johnson of Rockford, 11, says Eric Johnson, her husband, “sold” her to his butcher for a lot worth $500. This was after Mrs, Johnson and the butcher haa been arrested in a hotel, on complaint of Johnson. —_—— Charlie Miller Chief e l Cleveland, 1 | l How To Start the Day Wrong THEN You Take A WHALE OF A SPLASH THEN - You PUT ON A HARD BoiLeD_CotLAR AND START 1o ADJUST SCARF_THROUGH 1T AND THusS Te DAY 1S successFuLLy RUINED BOXING RESULTS Champion Joe Lynch Wins News- paper Decision Over Burman—Le- vinsky Bests Smith.
