Lew Fields, Molly King Et AL’ Have Good Musical Vehicle (By Herald Reviewer.) Lew Fields, Molly King, Andrew Tombes and Delyle Alda, aided and abotted by scveral lesser luminarics of the state and a chorus of more than ordinary pulchritude, put over a new musical comedy. *‘Blue Eyes,” at Par- son’'s Theater in Hartford last evening in pleasing style. The production was somewhat ragged,and dragged in spots, but the stars have a vehicle which { should keep them on Broadway for some time. Costumes were brilliant and catchy, score was tuneful and the lines were very apt. The comedy possesses rather more than the usual amount of plot one ex- pects to see in musical comedies The story centers about the adventures of three partners in Bohemianism, one of whom has the misfortune to be run over by a machine containing a beau- tiful girl “Blue Eyes” (Miss King). Of course he falls in love with her, of course he pretends to be a rich count, of course her parents are not what they pretend and wish to match her husband. The Manners, of Great Neck, offer entertainment to the impecunious partners, believing | them to be.a count and a famous doc- tor. One of them has.acted butler, he has to continue to do so. To Lew Fields falls this part and he extracts Event- ually the truth of the story leaks out. not hindering the love of the principal pair a bit but bringing the curtain down upon the last act. The scenes are laid in Gramercy square in'the studio of Brett,Van Dan and Ripley, the partners, and at the Lodge, Great Neck, L. I. Both set- tings are pleasing creations, harmon- izing nicely with the gorgeous cos- tumes of the chorus and of Miss King.
