St. John's Cadet Says He Burned | School Building to Get a Vacation. Syracuse, Jan. 20.—Austin L. In- gersoll, 17 years old, a freshman ca- det at St. John's Military school at Manlius, and son of a prominent El- mira druggist, confessed that he had set fire to three of the school build- ings because he *“hoped the cadet battalion would be dismissed for the rest of the year and he could home.” Immediately after his confession to District Attorney Frank P. Malpass, Ingersoll was indicted by the grand jury on three separate counts of ar- son, third degree- The three build- ings which were fired by the cadet were the Academy building, on Nov. 14, which was destroyed with a loss approximating $200,000; the chapel, which was set on fire Jan. 5, with slight loss, and Huntington hall, a fire in which on Jan. 14 caused little dam- age.
