Hyde Park, Vt., Dec. 27.—A jury of married men today sat in judg- ment on the evidence for and against Arthur Mudgett, the lumberman who .is charged with the murder of Amy Shonia, a mill girl at Johnson July 31 last. The case which has been in Hearing for two weeks was given the Jurors just before noon. Closing arguments were made by counsel before Christmas, the court postponing the charge and final refer- ence of the issue until after the holi- day in order that the jury might not be influenced in a hasty decision by considerations of their own Christmas plans or wishes. Hyde Park, Vt, Dec. 27.—A ver- idiet of guilty of manslaughter was returned today by the jury in the case of Athur Mudgett, the Ilumberman who has been on trial two weeks charged with the murder of Amy Shonio, a mill operative of Jonson, July 31. The board is expected to carry the case to the court of errors and appeals, the highest tribunal of New Jersey. | The board was removed from office | several months ago, following charges of misconduct in office by the muni- «cipality of Jersey City, in connection with its decisigns. Although the strike was settled three weeks ago, mining cannot be resumed at a normal production for another month because of the flooded condition of the mines, according to reports here.
