Many questions were asked which brought out interesting infor- mation about the customs of the people, and the educational, religious, commercial and industrial conditions that exist in that great country. Wage Cuts Reports to the effect that certain departments of the Russell and Erwin plant had been notified of cuts in pay amounting from 10 to 20 per cent were denied this afternoon by Presi- dent H. C. M. Thomson of the Am- erican Hardware corporation. The Herald was informed, through éther sources, today, that employes in several departménts received no- tices of the cuts today or vesterday.
