Kirkham upon James O'Keefe, who was arrested last night on Arch street by Patrolman Patrick O'Mara on charges of drunkenness, breach of the peace and resistance. Miss Mary Fatina, a well young womah about the city, was committed to the State Farm for an indefinite period for drunkenness and breach of the peace. In the case of ’Keefe, the revocation of probation s equivalent to an additional 30 day , sentence. H Arrested on Arch Stroet. | O'Keefe and the Fatina woman were picked up In an alley way on Arch street near Bardeck's hall after complaints had reached the ears of Patrolmen O'Mara and Axel Carlson to the effect that someone was throw- ing bottles wildly, making it danger- ous for anyone to pass the driveway. When, the officers entered the drive- way they found the young man being held. down on the ground by several of his friends, and in & drunken con- dition, while Mary Fatina was also | drunk and acting in & very unladylike | manner. Patrolman O'Mara took O'Keefe. On the way to the wagon the prisoner resisted and it was neces- sary for the policeman to use force to subdue him. Acoording to the policeman the language used by both was exceedingly vile. At the station the pcllceuun were again forced to use violent methods to geét O'Keefe under control. Mary continued her verbal assault with language scarcely fit for a woman. Struck With Bottle. Jam heehan was called to the ‘witiéss stand to testify to the actions of the couple preceding the arrest. On the way 6ut of the court room leading to the cell-room, O'Keefe de- livered an ultimatum to O'Mara, in which he threatened to “get” him. A melee, decidedly briof but compiete in detail, followed, and O'Keefe was picked up half way down the stairs. The prisonér complained of injuries to his back.
