Dept. of Labor's Bureau of Statistics Sees Prices Fall 2 Per Cent in Month, Oct. 21.—Fhe decline ice.of foodstuffs during September was placed at 2 per cent by the department of labor's bureau of statistics in its monthly report to- day on food costs. Some foodsthirs, Washington, in the retall y notably potatoes and sugar, sustained a marked de- crease in price while others, includ- ing eggs, pork chops and oranges, un- derwent price increases ranging from § per cent for oranges to 12 per cent for eggs. The decline in retail food prices, however, according to the bureau's figures, did not keep pace with the drop in wholesale quotations. The latter were placed at 5 per cent.
