While the girl insisted yvesterday that she is of marriage age, her uncle, who was prominent vesterday, claims that she is but 14 years old The youthful couple, as the story was related at police headquarters, stole away from Springfield and on arrival at Hartford. an attempt to secure & marriage license was €ruit- less. The couple then made their w here, and the voung man went at once to City Hall, where he gave his address as 51 Hartford avenue, and that of the girl as 262 Elm street. The ages of the couple was given as 22 and 21 vears respectively. It was only a short time after the granting of the marriage license that a message was received from Hart- ford, inquiring as to the whereabéuts of the pair. Policeman Peter McAvoy and Herbert C. Lyon were sent out in quest of the couple and they were brought to the station. Then the fireworks began An uncle of the girl, who guardian, has mapped out a plan for his niece whereby she was to wed a Porto Rican of elder years, but whose purse was considerable in excess of that of Yamin's.
