CAMPAIGN Calls It Efiort tofiy on Racial i Prejudices Chicago, Oct. 16.—Speaking at a luncheon at the Iroquoia Club here today, Secretary of State Colby charged the republican party “with the methodical effort to play upon the susceptibilities of every racial group In America” and characterized it as “one of the most sinister features of the republiean eampaign. Mentioning the Germans, he said by way of {llustration, Mr. Colby de- elared that any general organized support from the German element in America is an expréssion of either dis- appointment or resentment at the course of the United States in the war. “There is not a journal published In German,” the speaker charged,” or a newspaper that during the war en- fjoyed prominence as pro-German in Its leanings that Is not supporting Harding and the republican ticket today. There is not a German suspect or a German sympathizer who is not supporting the republican ticket and there is only one reason for this sup- port: they hate the president who pulled the mask aside tromt Prussian Arrogance.” What he sald of the German ele- ment, Sec.
