THRIFT IN INDUSTRY OW is the time for.the forward look, the clear vision, the earnest + ¥ purpose. Employers and workers are engaged in a common cause, and animated by a desire to raise the standard of life, are seeking the co- operation of all. As a Nation with a united thought in war, so must we be a Nation with a united thought in peace. The brotherhood of man must be interpreted and made real, that it may redound to the betterment of all who live in - this wonderful day—that it may be useful to not only ourselves but to future generations. WATCHFUL WORKING Our economic life will depend upon the clarity of purpose and thought with which we approach the problems of reconstruction. There must be no hesitation, no waiting for action by some one else, but all must generate the spirit of optimism and work whole-heartedly for its full fruition in our everyday lives. The wheels of commerce must now turn with a speed unprecedented. A world-wide opportunity lies at the doors of our shops and factories, and that opportunity must be seized and handled expeditiously. The program for National Thrift Week aims to encourage every member of this community for increased efficiency-—to co-operate in every project in making this a better community in which to live—to cause every individual to feel a cordial atmosphere—to encourage integrity, and thrift in industry. SAVING GIVES CONFIDENCE The man with a growing savings account has confidence in himself, which creates greater earning power, hence greater saving. Every surplus dollar counts and should be put promptly to work at interest. ~ Avoid speculative schemes—they are too risky anc dangerous.
