The charges were brought by | Officer William Hayes who investi- gated an accident in which M M ret Kilduff figured a week ago Thursday at the corncr of Main East Main streets when Gorfain's | truck ran her down. The accused Wis represented by Attorncy William M. Greenstein who entered a plea of not guilty in his eclient’s behalf. The Kilduff girl told her story of the accident and explained how her sister by remaining a few feet behind her was not struck and how she was injured while about four feet from the curb. She could not estimate the speed of the car as she didn't see it until a few seconds before the acci- dent. : The girl denied having become confused stating that she ran straight ahead. Agnes Kilduff told a similar stor: Gorfain said he saw the girl as he was rounding the traflic post and im- mediately applied his brakes. It w impossible {o stop, however, becau! of the condition of the pavement and his car was swerved to the left side | of the road. He picked the girl up and carried her into the Bronson ho- tel where she was iven medical at- tention. Officer Charles Johnson, who was on traflic duty at the cor- ner was unable 1o find any fault with the manner in which Gorfain was driving while Officer William Hayes strikin of the girl.
