In the presence of 8,000 boxing enthusi- 8sts who jammed the outdoor aren: of the Armory A. A. in Jersey he outpointed Ted Lewis, from whom he wrested the championship by a knockout last spring in Canton in an eight round contest. Lewis tried to box with Britton, the champion proved too fast clever and too heady a general the Englishman. He wound up the round with speed and went to his corner in good condition. Britton made good use of the first minute’s rest, and came out for the second round as fresh as he had been at the opening. He began to send his left jabs straight to the mark. Lewis bored in, but invariably Britton's left forced him at bay.
